Traditional dammar varnish for protecting oil paintings. The dammar varnish consists of gum dammar and french turpentine. Can also be used as a medium in oil painting.

  • Traditional final varnish.
  • Can be applied after the oil paint is completely dried (approx. 6-12 months).
  • The dammar varnish dries in a couple of hours.
  • Can show signs of aging over time, such as crackling and yellowing.
  • Gives a high gloss.
  • Can be thinned with french turpentine.
  • Tools and brushes can be cleaned with french turpentine or white spirit.
  • Dry dammar varnish coats can be removed with french turpentine.
